Wadhurst, East Sussex, UK
I have friends throughout Europe and enjoy their metropolises but, villages are always my favorite places to visit. To research The Other Side of Courage, Stonegate and Wadhurst were the villages I drew most for British settings.
The village of Hytheham is a fictional name as there was NOT a 26th Fighter Group in the 9th Army Air Force. However, air bases of the 9th Air Force were in southern England hence locating the fictional Hytheham and the 26th Fighter Group in East Sussex County.
The Greyhound was last a pub in 1999. It has been returned to a coach inn.
The Greyhound as a coach inn just prior to World War One. Mouse over and click on any photo to visit.
